But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. Psalms 56:3
In my last post, I talked about trusting God. Most of the time we struggle with trust because of fear. Fear tells us God won’t love us because of the nature of our sin. Fear tells us that God will inflict pain on us for his own pleasure. Fear will steal your joy and happiness. Fear shows up as anxiety, worry, self-loathing, depression and many other harmful feelings. How do you fight against it? TRUST! Trust is defined as belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. That’s FAITH! How do you look past the situations and things you can see to put total faith in someone you can’t. For me, it didn’t happen until I created a prayer life.
In the past, I would pray when things were bad or when I wanted something from God. I became committed to pray daily. After a couple of months I realized I was missing something…God’s word. I didn’t know what His views were on things because I didn’t know what the Bible said. I found a reading plan and started reading. Things started to make sense to me. I started to live by the Word. My prayers started to get answered. This is when I relinquished control of my job to God. The fear that I had, about God taking it away from me, happened. The difference between my feared outcome and the actual outcome was that I was at peace about it. I wasn’t afraid of the unknown. I felt a sense of relief knowing that whatever happens, I will celebrate it.
God, thank you for your perfect plan. Thank you for another day on this earth to glorify you. Please help those needing to be freed from fear to be open to your gentle whispering in their hearts. I love you and trust you fully. Amen.
I love you and can’t wait to see you again!
